Using the Archive in the Classroom
The archive is a resource that school-level and university-level teachers could directly incorporate into their courses.
The featured topics could provide the basis for weekly topics as part of a module on popular culture and the 2011 Egyptian revolution. Alternatively, particular featured topics could provide case studies of the Egyptian revolution/contemporary Egypt relevant to courses on media studies, film studies, cultural studies, Middle East studies, Arabic and/or translation studies, international politics, international studies, history, geography, comparative gender/women’s studies, comparative literature, theatre and performance studies.
Each of the featured topics includes an overview article about the subject, a list of relevant academic readings that provide more in-depth discussion and a selection of archive items that illustrate the issues and themes highlighted in the article and the academic texts. At the end of each featured topic, you can find suggestions for questions that could be the basis for classroom discussions or student assignments.
