In this debut novel, Hamilton tells the story of the Egyptian revolution beautifully and powerfully through the lives of young activists, Mariam and Khalil. This was the first fictional account of the revolution.
The author is also a film-maker and co-founder of the Mosireen media collective, which used film-making to document the revolution and counter official propaganda, which attempted to discredit the revolution.
