Title
Online to Prime Time with Abla Fahita
Subject
Comedy TV show
Description
From controversial subjects to risqué material, the Arab world’s most vociferous puppet talks about her early career in advertising and her plans for the future.
Abla Fahita is a satirical puppet character, who began life in 2010 on a YouTube show and was then given a live TV show in 2014 - borrowing a format first pioneered by Bassem Youssef. In 2013, a pro-regime supporter filed a complaint with the public prosecutor, accusing her of being a British agent and sending coded messages to the Muslim Brotherhood (which, by this time, was considered a terrorist organization) through an advert for Vodafone in which she was starring.
