This Ramadan TV series was shown on Egyptian TV in 2018 and is available to stream on Netflix. It follows 2 interlinked mysteries - one set in the present and the other set in the 1960s. It stars famous actors Nelly Karim and Hesham Selim.

Whilst not ostensibly about contemporary politics, nonetheless the series very cleverly gets around the censor by situating potentially controversial plots about forced disappearance, state violence and surveillance in the past. The series also explores issues of loss, regret and dilemmas over whether to stay or leave Egypt, resonating with feelings felt by many Egyptians in the post-revolutionary period under the repressive rule of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
