Title
Egyptian Protesters Perform 'Harlem Shake' outside the Muslim Brotherhood Headquarters
            Subject
street performance
            Description
Egyptians protesting against then President Mohammed Morsi performed the internet meme, the "Harlem Shake" outside the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood. The performance pokes fun at the perceived cultural conservatism of the Muslim Brotherhood. Some dancers wear a traditional long white robe, or 'gallabeya', associated with residents from rural areas, and a Mickey Mouse mask in order to mock supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, who they consider 'backward'.
The performances were condemned by the Muslim Brotherhood government. On another occasion, four students were arrested for indecency for performing the dance in their underwear.
