Title
Mother of the Martyr
Subject
Graffiti/Street Art
Description
These images depict a mother mourning her child. They refer to the mothers of the martyrs - those killed by the police during anti-regime protests. Such images sought to mobilise sympathy not only for those killed and their families but also for the revolution and its goals.
On one of the images, there is a stencil of Alaa Abd El-Fatah -a famous revolutionary activist who was imprisoned a number of times after 2011, most recently in September 2020.
