The people want five pounds (phone) credit (x2)
The money is in the bank (x2)
But the bank doesn’t exist
And I’m up since morning
Trying to start my car
But it won’t start
It’s causing me problems (x2)
And my head is scrambled (x2)
Going so slowly on the road (x2)
The people want five pounds (phone) credit
Five pounds for each person
And think of the shame
Five pounds for each person
And think of the shame
We’re fighting over each pound
What can we do, Fifty?
Whatever we can!
Even dodgy things
We’ll start something new
Wake up, people! (x2)
Did you see what happened?
The people won
Did you see what happened?
The people won
The people want the fall of the regime (x2)
Enough with this
The people are fed up
Enough with this
The people have spoken
And Tahrir is its territory
Whatever the media says
We’re not going back
Soldiers on the ground
As long as we live
This is my country that I grew up in
I’ll live and die in it
I can’t give it as much as you have given me
I wish I could give it everything
You have to win
Muslim, Christian = Egyptian
All together we can build it
And my kids can grow up here

<text>'Mahragan' is a style of music that emerged from the most marginalised neighbourhoods of Cairo and is derided by some Egyptians as 'vulgar'. However, it became well-known after the 2011 revolution as middle-class youth began listening to it. Sadat and Fifty are two of the biggest mahragan musicians. On the whole, mahragan songs do not deal with explicitly political themes but rather highlight social and financial issues facing ordinary people, particularly young people living in economically deprived areas. </text>
